SELLING KENTUCKY COAL
Coal companies sold their coal under a wide variety of brand-names. Seen here are some old metal advertising signs for Kentucky produced coal. It is interesting that three of these four coal mining companies touted their coal as the finest or best when the coal from several companies could come from the same coal seams that were just under different property.
A variety of give-away items were used to advertise Kentucky coal brand-names, such as the pocket mirrors, paperweights, ink blotters and watch fobs shown above and below.
